Within my professional role, the knowledge from this module will be valuable in the start-up and ongoing phases of a study. A deeper understanding of DBMS will support more strategic thinking when refining data collection procedures prior to studies. The responsibility of defining queries for collected data is increasingly falling on the medical team, and knowledge of both SQL and Python will be instrumental in developing and automating queries. By considering the datasets required for joint analytics, this module deepened my thinking regarding how to bring together multiple datasets to optimise data use. One key previous challenge has been the communication gap between the data management and clinical teams; the technical knowledge and insights gained in this module will help to bridge that divide.
